I personally do not like children. And adults either require more work or sometimes it's just much more difficult if they learn slowly (specially when they are over 40 and don't have almost any prior knowledge).
Thus, the only group left is adolescents. They are in a crucial age. Despite that fact, and other than having mood swings, I think they are better to teach than children as they aren't so noisy and mischievous. Besides, they are a little more dynamyc than adults and learn faster.
Since I happen to constantly keep myself updated in matters of entertainment, I have an idea of what they might like or consider trendy, which might help to draw their attention towards the class if I include them in games, activities, etc.
They probably do require a bit more effort when it comes to treating them with gentleness and caution at all times, so that they won't feel threatened or embarassed.
In conclusion, teenagers are the ones I would like to teach the most.
Jonathan let me tell you that I respect your point of view and somehow I agree with you.
ResponderEliminarAs I know you, I`m sure that you don`t like neither noisy children nor boring adults, and I understand that you wouldn`t like to spend your time trying to teach them. So that teenagers are your choice.
Well, let me tell you that sometimes teenagers can be noisy as well. Remember they are experimenting the change from a kid to an adult. That`s why sometimes they are not mature and tend to behave like little kids. Also they could be rebel and some of them tend to disrespect the teacher, inasmuch as they want to seem like adults, and they don`t want to follow commands. But as you said before you`ll be able to understand them since you were one of them some months ago.
But, anyway, I invite you to try teaching children some day! After that you`ll see how cute and pure they are.
Good luck teaching your sweet teenagers!
Well Becky, I strongly and utterly dislike kids. So I don't think so, thanks. And teens aren't as noisy as children. Mmmm and I believe you have a highly delluded concept of kids. You picture 'em in an idealized way. You see, fact is that nowadays in our country, children are truly often more perverse, shameless, meaner and naughtier than most of the people you know from the university, for ex. Behind those "cute" faces, there's not really any trace of innocence left, so you better keep your eyes wide open, as we do not live in the early '90s anymore...
ResponderEliminarOh, and just for the record, I don't consider adults to be boring at all. Actually, most of my favorite people ever are adults. So, good riddance with your fairy tale-enchanted kids!
ResponderEliminarHI class,
ResponderEliminarI can see this deep debate in teaching children, teens and adults. Each of you will have a place in the teaching field. YOu Lupita will nicely teach those teens Jonathan will be eager to teach. And yes Jonathan nowadays children are worst than ever but this behavior depend on parents and somehow teachers. We must behave accordingly to our status. WE are models for those little citizens. So, in the future, you will complement each other´s job.
Dude, i agree with what you say about children because they can be really creative in being meen, but your also forgetting that teenagers are the one with the mind for the harmful pranks. Well, i haven't been the target for this pranks, but i was a teen, and i used to play that kind of jokes to teachers. May karma don't hunt me :S
ResponderEliminarThat's true, regarding pranks. I guess it depends on how well your authority as a teacher can prevail (not meaning being authoritarian). On the other hand, with kids, extra carefulness is needed, since if you just slightly cross the line, they will cry or make a huge scene, which will lead to an unpleasant meeting with the parents afterwards. I remember when I was in high school, it was weird that some teachers had quiet, respected classes with a group that behaved completely different and awfully with another professor.
